Fuel Cost Calculator
A Fuel Cost Calculator is a tool designed to help individuals, businesses, and organizations estimate the cost of fuel consumption for a vehicle or fleet of vehicles over a specified distance or time period. This calculator takes into account factors such as fuel efficiency (miles per gallon or liters per kilometer) and the current price of fuel to provide an accurate projection of fuel expenses.
How to Calculate Mileage per KM
To calculate mileage per kilometer (km), you typically need to know the distance traveled in kilometers and the amount of fuel consumed in liters. Here’s the general formula.
Mileage per Kilometer (km/L) = Distance Traveled (km) / Fuel Consumed (L)
Determine Distance Traveled: First, determine the distance the vehicle travels in kilometers. This could be obtained from odometer readings or by using a mapping tool to measure the distance of the route traveled.
Determine Fuel Consumed: Next, determine the amount of fuel consumed by the vehicle during the journey. This can be obtained by recording the vehicle’s tank’s initial and final fuel levels or by tracking fuel consumption over a specific distance.
Calculate Mileage per Kilometer: Once you have the distance traveled (in kilometers) and the fuel consumed (in liters), divide the distance traveled by the amount consumed to calculate the mileage per kilometer.
For example, if a vehicle traveled 250 kilometers and consumed 20 liters of fuel
Mileage per Kilometer (km/L) = 250 km / 20 L
Mileage per Kilometer (km/L) = 12.5 km/L
This means that the vehicle is capable of traveling approximately 12.5 kilometers on one liter of fuel.
It’s important to note that this calculation provides the mileage per kilometer (km/L). If you prefer to express fuel efficiency in terms of liters per 100 kilometers (L/100 km), you can convert the result using the following formula.
Fuel Efficiency (L/100 km) = 100 / Mileage per Kilometer (km/L)
Fuel Efficiency (L/100 km) = 100 / 12.5 km/L
Fuel Efficiency (L/100 km) = 8 L/100 km
This means that the vehicle consumes approximately 8 liters of fuel for every 100 kilometers traveled.
